SENIORS OF TWO BIGGEST ORTHODOX CHURCHES OF UKRAINE COMMENT THE STATEMENT OF ECUMENICAL PATRIARHY

Kyiv - 27 March, 2005 in the interview on the TV channel "5th Channel" Metropolitan Volodymyr (Sabodan), Senior of Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchy), and Patriarch Filaret (Denisenko), Senior of Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchy), commented the statement that the Kyiv Metropolitan area is not the canonical area of Moscow Patriarchy. Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Volodymyr (Sabodan) claimed that those were only talks with no official decision. On the other hand, Kyiv Patriarchy sees no reason to reject the statement from the capital of the world Orthodoxy. Metropolitan Volodymyr (Sabodan) said the following: „That was the talk at the reception of two bishops of Constantinople with our President. In the talk, it was mentioned that Patriarch of Constantinople quasi said so, but there was no synodal registration." Patriarch Filaret commented as follows: „ There is no reason to discredit that statement.
