During the Holy Divine Liturgy Patriarch Moses congratulated the faithful of Holy Christ?s Church on the holiday of Theophany during the Baptism of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and accomplished the rite of blessing of the water.
A long time ago Jesus Christ, son of Man received baptism on the banks of the Jordan River. And the consecration of Our Lord took place. And the Jordan River was consecrated and was afraid of that the Creator Himself was receiving baptism in its water and flowed in the opposite direction.
Since that time all the water sources of the Earth have been consecrated on Epiphany. And the water becomes curative. It cures the Earth, it cures the people, purifying their souls from filth and restoring the health of their bodies.
Since the Age of the apostles the rite of blessing of the water has taken place. The clergy and the faithful pray to Lord asking Him to consecrate the water.
And the Holy Spirit descends and the water changes.
It becomes alive.
This Holy water keeps its characteristics through many days. And it possesses the special power for the consecration of our soul, our body and our houses:
"In the name of the Father! Amen! In the name of the Son! Amen! In the name of the Holy Spirit! Amen!"
