Christ is risen!
Christ is risen!
Christ is risen!
When Our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross and His soul came out from the body, it went directly to the hell, like the soul of every usual person. I explain you the troparion, which we sing in the honor of Resurrection of the Lord. When the Jesus? soul went down to the hell, it was met by the Death, which guarded all the souls - righteous and sinful. Death thought that it is a usual soul of a usual person, the same way people who crucified Jesus thought. Death came closer to Jesus to catch Him. But it did not understand that He is invisibly connected with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. And when it touched Him, it fell down dead. And at that moment the earthquake had happened. And the coffins of the saint people were opened. And you can see the photos of that cemetery in the Internet. It is situated on the left side from Jerusalem. It is a very big cemetery, where the coffins were opened, as it is written by John the Evangelist. And he said that all saint people resurrected, stood up, came to the people and were among them for several days. After that they disappeared nobody knew where to. Is it true? Nobody will tell you that. But John the Evangelist wrote so.
But what happened when Jesus won over Death? Death fell down and He was moving forwards, walking between those coffins, where souls were sealed. And the coffins opened and souls got up. So, you should understand that there is no soul, who has lived on the Earth and has not committed sins, including all righteous people starting from Adam and Eve? And on the day of His Resurrection, the Lord allowed those souls to go to Heavens. They resurrected and with their souls went to God in the Heavens.
So, we are singing: "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death". He conquered death with His death "and
upon those in the tombs bestowing life". How John Chrysostom says: "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" (1 Corinthians XV:55). Death can't hold the souls of the righteous people, who lived and sinned a little bit. But they were righteous anyway, they lived righteous lives. Death cannot hold them anymore. As by the God's mercy, because Jesus has suffered so much for us and has risen, the souls have the opportunity to go to the Heavens. And we all if we try to live righteously, try to use all sacraments, which Christian Church in Orthodoxy gives: confession and so on, we will risen from the dead as well. But now, to be risen from the dead, we should be risen in our good deeds, we should turn to God. As everybody, who does not turn to God, are dead among the alive, they are dead with their soul and spirit, as they are materialists. So, we should strive for being risen with our spirit, with our way of thinking and our life.
Christ is risen! Christ is risen! Christ is risen!
Christ is risen from the dead,
trampling down death by death,
and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Christ is risen from the dead,
trampling down death by death,
and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Christ is risen from the dead,
trampling down death by death,
and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Christ is risen! Indeed, He is risen!
